Ditto. Let me add my thanks to you for posting this procedure. Worked like a charm for me!

Here's some further observations for the next reader:
If you need screwdrivers:
I used Phillips #0 for the outer case screws, and
Phillips #00 for the inside screws. Both available at your local Sears.

If the scroll wheel motion is a little stiff after reassembly, you may want to loosen the inner screws very slightly. Don't crank em down!

Go for it!

My Sansa had this crazy wheel problem and I completely abandoned it because of that. Your guide really made it work great now!

Hey Joustin,
Like everyone else my sansa was on the fritz. I went through your tutorial and did as instructed... and Whammo good as new if not better! My e260 is my only refuge from from this cold dark dungeon I call work. Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you, thank you! No more skipping around for my scroll wheel, either. You saved me $100-200 on a new mp3 player (and the possible indignity of carrying around an ipod).

Yes, thanks so much for this guide! The wheel on my e260 has been gimmicky for a while now but I've been living with it as is because I like the player itself so much. Thought I was going to have to buy a new player soon, but now that the wheel is working perfectly again, I no longer have to budget that splurge into my graduate student stipend :)

Thanks again!

Just wanted to leave a word of thanks for the maintenance guide. The wheel on my e280 was playing up and even though I had an extended warranty, I was worried they'd just replace it with a v2 model that wouldn't run Rockbox. So to avoid that I decided to give the dissassembly and cleaning a try, and now it's working fine.
